St. Mark’s

The Church

Our regular Sunday service is at 9.30 AM. The style is friendly and relaxed within a fairly traditional framework. We generally use Rejoice and Sing and/or Songs of Fellowship hymnbooks, although we are open to hymns and songs from other sources as well.

We are working towards being a “Child Friendly Church” and already have toys and books available for any children who may attend, although we don’t have regular children at the moment. We are hopeful, though, and we love it when children do attend; they are made very welcome.

Church members, although few in number, are very loyal and always attend on Sundays when possible. They reflect a range of cultural backgrounds.

The area

The Church building nestles in a residential area of mainly Victorian terraced houses. There is a growing number of young families in the area and several schools, both private and local authority/Church run.

The socio-economics of Balham has changed considerably in the last few decades and escalating house prices reflect this trend.

Rowfant Road is just off Balham High Road, a spacious main road with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. It is a short five minute walk to Balham Underground and main line station and Balham town centre.

Balham is now an extremely popular place to live and has a metropolitan, bustling feel about it.
